DOG SLEDDING IN BOLTERDALEN

20230501_143252.jpg

ABOUT

You will be picked up by the guide and taken to Green Dog's kennel in Bolterdalen, where you will be given warm clothes for the trip. The kennel is located 12 kilometers outside Longyearbyen, and here you will receive thorough instruction in dog sledding, as well as help with harnessing the dogs before we drive off into Bolterdalen. Green dog is the dog farm located furthest inside the valley, so you get straight out into the wilderness! Bolterdalen is an area with limited scooter traffic.

We ride in pairs on each dog team so that one drives the sled and the other sits on it. Forrest drives the guide, also with two guests on the sled. We follow the riverbed as it meanders into Bolterdalen, surrounded by beautiful mountains. Inside the moraine there will be some speed and tension up and down between the moraine mounds. Back in the kennel, tea, coffee, hot waffles and a glass of brandy are served if you feel like it - and we show off the latest generation of small dog puppies.A great trip for anyone who wants to experience the devoted interaction between people and animals that occurs out in nature. Dogs are perfect bear detectors. No experience is necessary.
