FUGLEFJELLA - BIRD CLIFF

ABOUT
A true nature hike through the massive valley of Bjørndalen, an area which is full of flora and fauna and where we might be able to observe wildlife like the Arctic fox, Svalbard reindeer, little auk and perhaps the Svalbard rock ptarmigan, if we're lucky. After our climb up to the summit of the bird cliff, we will enjoy the stunning view over Isfjorden. Our tour starts at 08:30 (am), where our guide will pick you up from your accommodation. We will drive along the coastline to the beautiful valley of Bjørndalen, which is the starting point of our full-day wilderness hike. Here we will make our way through the valley, enjoying the amazing scenery we are in. Don’t forget to look back and listen to the sound of the little auk colony on Platåberget. This area is full of flora and fauna, and after hiking for a few kilometers, we will start making our way to the top of Fuglefjella (bird cliff). This is the hardest part of our hike, where we will ascend 300 meters over a 500 meter distance. However when making it to the top, the view over the fjord Isfjorden is more than rewarding! Along our way we will have plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, stop for warm lunch and hot drinks, and to be on the lookout for wildlife.
